How it works
How to plan a Cluster jewel
The order of notables on a Path of Exile Cluster jewel's ring is set by the game, not by the roll: an internal stat number decides it. On a Large with three notables the first and third slots are cheap and the second costs more. So you take the two outer nodes, and the middle one is only a filler: it must sort between them. The planner starts from that: you pick slots 1 and 3, and it shows every notable that can land in slot 2.
Pick an enchantment (the search also finds it by notable name) and a passive count, then click a slot on the ring and choose a node from the list next to it. After the first node, the second slot offers only what the game can put there: by order, by the limit of 2 prefixes and 1 suffix, and from the same enchantment. With both picked, the list has all fillers for that pair: the name, prefix or suffix, minimum ilvl, what the node does and its own Trade link. Above the list one link searches for any of the fillers, handy for a first look. If a pair has no filler, the page says why: nothing sorts between the nodes, the prefix and suffix limit does not add up, or the ilvl is too low.
A node's cost is counted from the entry along the shortest path, and the corner of the ring shows the shortest path to all the picked nodes at once. A Medium has two notables that cost the same, so it has one list and no filler choice; Small is not here: it has one notable. The layout is a port of Path of Building's code, checked against its Lua, poewiki's points table and a Maxroll example. We have not checked it in the game, nor the order on the ring, and the Trade links are built from the site's stat list and have not been tried live. The page address holds your whole selection, so you can share it. After a new patch the page warns that the layout may have changed.

How to read the ring
- Gold arcs and frames are the shortest path from the entry to what you picked: the points you will spend. The dark part is not on it.
- A bright frame with a number is a slot not picked yet. A gold circle around a node is the slot the list next to it is about.
- Above or below each notable is its cost: the points to reach it alone. The total in the corner is the path to all the picked ones at once.
- The filler's slot holds a node you skip. It is there so that the picked ones land in the cheap slots.
- A slot's list has only the nodes that can land there, in the game's order. Hover a row, or tap it on a phone, to see what the node does.
- On a Large with fewer than three notables the first one lands at the top of the ring and costs more. On a Medium both cost the same: the order does not matter, no filler needed.
How it is worked out
- The layout is a port of Path of Building's code (MIT), checked against its Lua, the poewiki table and a Maxroll example. Not checked in the game.
- A notable's cost is the passives from the entry on the shortest path, counting the entry and the notable. The total in the corner of the ring is the shortest walk to all wanted passives at once.
- An internal stat number sets the order of notables, not the roll or the alphabet. Per poewiki the advanced item description shows it: its middle line is the middle of the ring. Not checked in the game.
- Large: two prefixes and one suffix. Medium: two prefixes. So two prefixes take a suffix as the filler, and a prefix with a suffix takes a prefix.
- The cheap slots come from the layout for each passive count. On all five Large counts they are slots 1 and 3: the pair costs 3 to 5 points, a pair with slot 2 from 5 to 7. With the sockets, on 11 passives a pair with slot 2 can cost the same, and on 12 every pair costs the same. Two wanted notables land in the cheap slots only if the filler sorts between them.
- Trade links are built from the site's stat list and were not checked in the game. Neither was the order on the ring.
